Michael Mut Gallery is pleased to announce “4-You”, featuring Lucky Rapp and Aximillion Helga Duson. The exhibition will be on view at Michael Mut Gallery from May 12 through June 13, 2010. An opening reception will be held for the artists on Thursday June 3, from 6 - 9pm. The exhibition and reception are both free and open to the public.
“4-You” explores our fascination with numbers and their importance in our society. Numbers take on the representation of objects, milk is no longer milk but rather 14412. Our own existence also charted by a number and cataloged with the same informal ease of a milk container yet assigned to track birth, income, credit and death. This series sarcastically redefines numbers and manipulates their definitions into playful thoughts.
Lucky Rapp is a self taught artist who graduated from SDSU with a degree in sports medicine and athletic training. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, India, and Asia and has lived in Germany and Paris. Lucky returned to the Bay Area in 2001, where she lives and creates in San Francisco's Mission district.
Aximillion Helga Duson graduated from the Arts Academy in Antwerp and has a master’s degree in free arts. Aximillion lives in Belgium and has traveled extensively throughout Asia and recently visited the US for the second time.
After several meetings in Antwerp Belgium, Lucky and Aximillion, decided to combine their specialized skills and create new art work. The collaboration began in October of 2009 with recent exhibitions in San Francisco and Antwerp. This show curated by Sharon R. Reaves is the first New York show for Rapp and Duson.
